Q1- 13 - 6
Q2- 21 – 22
Q3-26 – 38
Q4-41 – 48

Amazing start – the Jets came quickly out the blocks and were fully committed to every ball and shooters were on song from the first whistle. The defensive unit caused Hucclecote into errors which Jets capitalised on giving us a 13 – 6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Becca Forrest leading from the back GK was in fine form hunting the ball and with her defensive partner Kat Le Riche GD and Jodie Blampied WD they formed an impressive unit.

The second and third quarters saw Hucclecote turning the tables on Jets, forcing us away from the ball and Jets ended up playing as individuals and not working on the unit principles which had served them so well in the first quarter. Jets struggled to recognise and adapt to the situation and with Hucclecote scoring a run of 10 unanswered goals the end of the third quarter was a welcome relief to push the reset button.

To their credit, Jets were not finished and were determined to play with pride. Jacy Brown moved to C and Aimee Bourke to WA. This opened up the attack and allowed Rosie Tonner GA to take the front cut on Hucclecote defence and Emily Green GS was holding strong. Nicole Goddard moved to her familiar position WD and continued to force pressure on the Hucclecote attack. Hucclecote made changes to steady the ship but unfortunately for Jets, the gap was too large to overcome, but the positive Jets won the last quarter 15 – 10.

The game gave us lots of food for thought, lots to work on, but all in all the weekend was a positive one. Our fitness levels were good. Becca Forrest was awarded POM for both games – two new caps. We will regroup, analyse individual performances and pull together for next weekend’s games against Premier Romans and Poole.

<![CDATA[Team Jets win first match of the season against Pinehurst]]>Fri, 23 Sep 2022 23:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/team-jets-win-first-match-of-the-season-against-pinehurstEveryone was ready for the first game of the season and energy was high. Through court play was precise but our goals were allusive. Pinehurst were quick to capitalise on our errors and put us in the back foot. Aimee worked hard for her first cap keeping her WA off circle edge. The new defense unit took time to settle as long balls were fed to the dominant shooter.

Second quarter - changes were made in the defensive unit - Kat Le Riche GD and Jodie Blampied WD - this proved a telling point and the unit turned over the ball which was converted by our shooters who had settled now in their stride.

Third quarter - Jets were in control and applied pressure all over the court. Turnovers were constant and jets began to extend their lead. Becca Forrest who was named POM was influential taking dramatic interceptions against WA/C ably backed up by Kat Le Riche. Jacy set the standard in the attack, Nicole stepping up to take the C bib showed her versatility and the speed of ball on the circle edge between the pair was exquisite. Rosie was outwitting her GD by splitting the circle taking front space and both Emily and Rosie were confident in putting up their shots.

Final quarter Maddy F W came in as WA, Jace moved to C and Nicole to WD. Unfortunately Maddy went over on her ankle in the early-on in the quarter and young Taylor-Mai Dickson took to the court in her first senior Jets appearance. The game went goal for goal. Jets kept control and won the first game of their campaign by 10 goals.

A great start so the season! Lots to review and work on. Recovery time and then reset for early start against Hucclecote this morning.

<![CDATA[U16 Jets loose two tough games]]>Sun, 06 Mar 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/u16-jets-loose-two-tough-gamesU16 Team Jets left it all on the court after two tough games today.

The squad had 2 matches today against TTNC trojan and Saints Fever.

The first game was against a very physical and well drilled TTNC side. Jets struggled to keep up with the physicality of their opponents. They put up a good fight but sadly didn’t get the results they wanted. All 10 players took to the court and gave it 100%.

After a short break the squad faced Saints fever. Saints came out firing and Jets struggled to keep up. Jets produced some amazing passages of play throughout the court and all the players gelled well in different combinations. A well contested game with Saints Fever taking the win.

OPOM of the match for both games was awarded to Sophie. Sophie’s strong holds and incredible shooting helped to keep the squad in the game. Sophie also switched roles and took on the GK job to add to the strong defensive end. A very well deserved player of the match award

Well done to the whole squad, lots of learnings to take into next weeks training.

<![CDATA[Senior jets loose to well drilled premier romans]]>Sun, 27 Feb 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/senior-jets-loose-to-well-drilled-premier-romansIt was a tough game against a well drilled Romans team. From the start, tall strong defence caused Jets problems to find the best pass to Leah (GS) and Rosie (GS). Hope slotted in well as WD making crucial interception on the centre pass. Nicole stepped up as GK in place of injured Josie and worked hard to link with Molly (GD).

The tempo was high throughout Q2 however Jets were on the back foot and struggling to find the best option through the court to their shooters. Maddy replaced Tallula at C mid way through to counter.

For Q3, big changes were made for impact: Jacy (C), Maddy (WA), Nicole (WD) and Katie (GK). Jets were keen to reverse the power of play. Nicole settled into familiar WD position and Jacy formed a steady link between defence and attack. It was still hard work getting balls into the shooters but openings were starting to develop. Leah exited the circle to create more space and Rosie was relentless in exploiting the space and putting up her shots. Katie began to reap the rewards of forcing the GS onto the goal line and balls went out of court. Tallula replaced Maddy at WA. Jets found ways to counteract the Romans attack, ending Q3 in a draw 14 - 14.

The fight back was on in Q4. Molly (GD) came into her own - making her classic interceptions which the attack used wisely and the gap began to lessen. Unfortunately key decisions and unforced errors didn’t always reward the immense Jets defensive pressure but Jets ended winning Q4 14-9.

It was a difficult game with forced positional changes but always lessons to be learned.

Opponents chosen player of the match: Tallula Norman (C / WA)

Player’s chosen player of the match: Jacy Brown (WA / C)

<![CDATA[Win against Mavericks]]>Sat, 26 Feb 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/win-against-mavericksFrom the get go, Leah (GS) ruled the shooting circle and gave clear options for Jacy (WA) and Hope (C) to feed. Jets brought clear principles from Thursday training into the match which added lots of variety to the centre pass attack. A great start from Jets finishing the quarter 17 - 10.

The second quarter saw Jets rule all areas of the court, applying pressure and making clinical decisions to goal. Rosie (GA) was impressive not only in attack but also making critical interceptions. Josie (GK) was dominating the defence circle until she went over on her ankle and painfully had to leave the court. Katie Doyle Jets no 51 took to the court as replacement GK and came out with her classic impressive interceptions!

Tallula entered the game in the third quarter at C and quickly settled into her stride using her speed and insight to feed Rosie and Leah. Molly (GD) and Nicole (WD) were influential in denying Mavericks shooting opportunities. Katie (GK) had the better of her shooter and forced balls off the goal line.

The final quarter saw Lottie Howe (GS) and Maddy Fitzgerald-Wilkins (WA) enter the game and continue to produce a consistent performance.

Overall it was a very physical encounter with Mavericks mistiming their challenges which unfortunately lead to a stop start game. Jets controlled their emotions and in turn controlled the attacking plays. It was a great team performance all round with everyone taking to the court!

Opponents chosen player of the match: Josie Le Masurier (GK) for her defensive flare, pressure and je ne sais quoi!

Player’s chosen player of the match: Rosie Tonner (GA) for her impressive work in not only attacking play but also her defensive work!

Q1: 17-10
Q2: 36-19
Q3: 48-26
Q4: 58-39

Our team photo was taken sat around Josie and her lovely swollen, bruised ankle - wishing her a speedy recovery !!

<![CDATA[Under 14 Jets double Success!]]>Sun, 06 Feb 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/under-14-jets-double-successWhat a day for U14 Team Jets! Winning 2 from 2!

Jets faced Galmington for their first game of the day. After a shaky start the squad settled well and in the first quarter our amazing C Isabella took 6 interceptions and 6 tips.

The squad continued to gel well and the 3rd quarter changes brought a new intensity to the game. Galmington came back firing in the final quarter but the final score was 52-22 to Jets with an amazing 37 tips and 28 interceptions

All 11 players took to the court and Isabella Lofthouse was awarded OPOM for her outstanding performance at C

After a short break our second game of the day was against a strong Dart Side. Jets were not used to the fast pace and physicality that Dart brought.

Our defence worked tirelessly and constantly got hand to ball and our shooters consistently found the net. The Dart defence were difficult to get around and after a few errors from our Jets side our mid court players found a way around them with intelligent circle feeds and resetting the ball.

The score did not reflect the intensity and competitiveness of this game. Our U14’s took the win 41-23

OPOM was awarded to our super goal shooter Grace Thomson
An incredible day with a talented squad, well done!

<![CDATA[double winning weekend again For Senior Jets!]]>Sun, 06 Feb 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/double-winning-weekend-againDOUBLE WIN WEEKEND FOR SENIOR JETS!!

It was a tough physical encounter against Exeter. Jets allowed Exeter to unsettle them and began to be hesitant on the ball. The Exeter defence continually denied space which reduced feeding options and resulted in the shooters losing confidence.

Second quarter jets began to take some control back winning the quarter 13-9.

Confidence in our principles made strong plays, centre pass options to goal and man on through court defence.

Third quarter was a tense affair. Shooters were once again under immense pressure and uncharacteristically began to miss shots. The defensive unit of Becca, Molly and Nicole were relentless and continually provided turnovers to give ball to the attack unit.

It took three quarters for jets to work out Exeter but work them out they did! The final quarter saw jets in total control. The defenders were flying, shutting down Exeter shooters and now the attack were rewarding their efforts. Timing was spot on, confidence was high and the game was flowing. Kirsty and Jacy were linking well. Shooters were back on form, options were endless which resulted in Jets winning the final quarter 20-7!

<![CDATA[Senior Jets beat Exeter NC]]>Sat, 05 Feb 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/february-05th-2022WIN FOR SENIOR JETS!

After a few nervous passes and thrown away balls by both sides in the opening minutes, Jets found their flow and began to produce some lovely play. Shooters Leah and Rosie created great spaces which could be fed effectively by Kirsty and Jacy. Becca and Nicole racked up an amazing total of 10 tips, rebounds and interceptions which Jets capitalised on to win the first quarter 18-10.

Second quarter was slightly more contested (14-9), with Jets losing focus and play becoming scrappy. They did however remain in control and once again found trust in each other (wise words from Linda took on board).

Third quarter saw the dynamic introduction of impact players Maddy to WA, Kat to WD and Josie to GK. Jets stepped up a gear and Bath couldn't answer to the shooters circle craft and throughout court fluidity! Amazing third quarter (22-7)!

Last quarter was a draw however the damage was really done in Q3 which allowed new combinations to consolidate (and make errors in doing so!)

Fantastic team effort from the girls!

Senior Jets were cheered on enthusiastically by our Under 14s who were treated to an exciting, dynamic spectacle!

<![CDATA[Jets make it a double win after beating Almondsbury]]>Sun, 23 Jan 2022 00:00:00 GMThttp://teamjetsnc.co.uk/latest-news/jets-make-it-a-double-win-after-beating-almondsburySECOND WIN FOR THE WEEKEND!!

Jet’s tired legs from Saturday couldn't keep up with Almondsbury's strong start going all out, going down by five goals. Confident, Control, Clinical were our three words for the game but the first quarter saw Jets under pressure making errors and allowing Almondsbury to keep in the game with the quarter going goal for goal. Jets ended the first quarter up by one goal.

Jets regrouped and thanks to co-captain Jacy Brown's (WA) words of wisdom were able to settle and go back to doing what they do best, winning the second quarter by a massive 21-2! Great defensive pressure from Becca (GK), Molly (GD) and Nicole (WD) with 8 turnovers, providing plenty of opportunities for attack to convert. Jacy (WA) and Toni (C) provided brilliant feeds to Leah (GS) and Rosie (GA), who dominated the circle.

Maddie (WA) and Josie (GK) took to the court in the third quarter, while Jacy moved to C. Another inspirational quarter with Nicole closing down her WA’s space while also providing the link from defense to attack. The shooters were well settled by this point and adjusted well to the new feeding combination of Maddy and Jacy.

Lottie (GS), Kat (WD), Toni (C) and Becca (GD) took to the court in the fourth quarter, Josie and Becca were soon in the thick of things intercepting balls over the court. Kat was quick to add to the defence unit workload.

Almondsbury didn’t give up and won the last quarter but all in all it was Jet’s win and a good finish to two days hard work!

Unfortunately our birthday girl Toni (C) was taken off due to an eye injury with only 2 minutes remaining of the match. We wish her a speedy recovery
Opponents chosen player of the match: Nicole Goddard (WD), for her support on both defense and attack!
