2016 - 2017 Season
With a new look Squad Team Jets embarked on their second year in the Mizuno Premier League Two but sadly couldn't hit the ground running. With only 3 wins and a draw the Team sadly didn't get the chance to save themselves at play offs and find themselves finishing in the automatic relegation position at the bottom of the table. With lots of younger players earning their first caps this season, including Tallulah Norman and Paige Lawson, however it will be an exciting squad to watch next Season.

Team Jets joined Kent County, Dominoes and Leyton (latter two teams in the relegation zone for Premier League Two) at Play-offs in Loughborough to try and secure double promotion up to Premier League Two. The opening match saw Team Jets face Kent County who were also battling for promotion. Having beaten the side twice in the league it was Kent who this time took the upperhand. Kent County 10,21,35,40 Team Jets 8,16,24,32 Having lost the opening game it was crucial that Team Jets won their next game of Day One against Dominoes who were fighting to stay in Premier League Two. The opening quarter saw Team Jets trail by one goal but from the second quarter onwards Jets stormed on to win by a fantastic margin. Dominoes 9,17,24,29 Team Jets 8,20,32,44 In a winner takes all match against Leyton Team Jets again fell behind in the first quarter. With a strong defence Jets found it hard to feed the shooting circle but began to chip away at Leyton's lead from the second quarter. |
With some fantastic defensive interceptions of their own coupled with Lynsey Pitman and Sophie Holmes finding more space it became a one goal game before the fire alarm halted the match with 5 minutes 53 seconds to go! Team Jets didn't let this interruption effect them in fact they came out the better team which made all the difference allowing them to win by one goal!

Team Jets played their last match of the season at Les Ormes. It was a fantastic way to end the season with Jets coming from behind to win 45 v 41! With Linden's tall GS being fed relatively easily and hardly missing a shot, Linden took a very strong early lead of nearly 10 gaols before the Jets defence started to double mark her and pressurise the passes to gain invaluable interceptions. With the crowd on their feet Jets finally gained the upper hand in the final part of the last quarter in a thrilling match. Team Jets 8,24,32,45 - POM Lauren Devine (GD) Linden 15,25,35,41 - POM Jaydene Robinson (WD) The result means that Team Jets finish level on points with second place Kent County but third on goal difference. |

Congratulations to Team Jets who put in a fantastic performance today against Norfolk United in front of a big supportive crowd. With the winner of todays match going to play-offs it was all to play for and made of a highly contested and completive game. The game started goal for goal before Team Jets took a strong lead but before the first quarter was out the visitors were catching up. But Team Jets pushed on and with some brilliant links between the attacking players they took of some great interceptions creating and maintaining a good lead to the final whistle. In a physical battle against Dudley Leisure, Team Jets (in their second kit) had too much ground to make up with the visitors taking an early lead. Following some changes to the team for the second half of the match Team Jets started to narrow the deficit narrowly winning the 3rd quarter but Dudley continued to score well with a fantastic performance from POM/GS Becky Tildesley. Jersey's Senior Team Jets returned to winning ways in Premier 3 today, beating Norfolk United 47-41 in a hard-fought, physical battle. In an close battle Team Jets were just ahead by half time 23-21. In a crucial 3rd quarter Norfolk starting strongly and took the lead halfway through leading 28-26. Team Jets were determined not to loose and fought back forcing numerous errors and gained the turnovers from the home side leaving them 36-31 ahead at the end of the quarter. After letting a final quarter lead slip last week the Jets were in no mood to see a repeat performance and closed out the game strongly to clinch victory. The result pushes Team Jets up to 3rd in the table. |

Linden 13,24,34,41 Team Jets 9,17,31,42 Team Jets put in a blinder of a last quarter to level a game that they had trailed for the preceding quarters. With 94% shooting accuracy from POM Sophie Holmes the Jets were able to convert interceptions. The winning goal shot by Holmes in the last 20 seconds in fact came from a fantastic interception from WD Lisa Luce. After the game Coach Linda Andrews said that Centre Jacy Brown “had the game of her life and made some incredible interceptions” such play helped the Jets win their 6th game from 9. Having now played every team once, Team Jets lie in 3rd though they are level on points with Ryland in 2nd position. |

Well done to
Team Jets who put in another great performance to earn them a second successive
home win. The Team started off strongly taking an early 2 nil lead against
Loughborough TFC who are yet to win a game this season. WA Abbie Hazley
took the player of the match honours for linking well with Jacy Brown (C)
and shooters Lynsey Pitman, Sophie Holmes and Rosie Tonner who came on for
the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Despite Sophie Holmes scoring 30 from 32
attempts it was the Loughborough TFC GS Leah Connelly who’s fantastic long
range shooting kept the game competitive and caught the eye of most of the
spectators. She took the POM title for her team.
Team Jets now join Kent County and Ryland on 24 points after the aforementioned played an epic 51 v 51 draw. Team Jets only lie in 3rd due to goal average which plays such a crucial part at this level. After the match coach Linda Andrews said “We’ve been looking at ways for [the shooters] to get free in a tight space and drawing defenders away…it worked a treat today”. Well done to Team Jets who are back to winning ways after defeating Dudley Leisure in their away match today 46 v 56. Team Jets were slow out the blocks and were down 9 v 4 midway through the opening quarter but battled back to trail by just one going into the 1st break. With excellent feeding and dominance in the centre court from Jacy Brown combined with the clinical efforts of shooters Lynsey Pitman and Sophie Holmes who had 85% and 87% accurracy respectively, Jets levelled the match at 25 each by half time. As the game went on the team grew in confidence according to Coach Linda Andrews and reduced their errors accross the court. POsitive team changes also made a difference with Jenna Murphy coming on at WA and Nicole Goddard at WD. Defenders Josie Le Masurier and Captain Lauren Devine also got to grips with Dudley's shooter, who is trialling for the Netball Superleague Franchise Loughborough Lightening, in the second half forcing errors and gaining turnover balls. After capitalising on their opponents mistakes and quickly feeding the ball to their shooters, the Jets finished the game brilliantly by extending their 3rd quarter lead and winning the final quarter 18 goals to 12. |

Well done to Team Jets who played their first home game at Les Ormes on Saturday 4th October. With a packed crowd cheering them on the atmosphere was electric. Before the game Team Jets were in 4th in the table with the opposition Cumberland lying in 2nd, one of only 2 teams to be unbeaten so far this season. After taking an early 4 v 1 lead the home team were feeding the circle well finding space amongst the Cumberland defence. However this space was closed down strongly in the second quarter by Cumberland, who admitted afterwards that they perhaps were still at the airport after issues lead the team and the match to be delayed for a few hours. Cumberland fought back to bring things almost level by half time (24 v 23) and took the lead for the first time early in the 3rd quarter. With Jets GA and GS swapping around to try and help get the ball to the shooting circle Jets pushed on but the game remained incredibly close with only a one or two goals separating the teams. Jets sadly missed a couple of chances but eged out the quarter 31 v 29. With Georgia Hickey injuring her knee Josie Le Masurier moved into GK and Captain Lauren Devine to GD. With some fantastic work the Jets pulled away early in the last quarter but Cumberland kept persevering and brought it back to a 1 goal game. |
With some turn overs due to loosing some contact and footwork decisions causing frustration throughout the team Cumberland took advantage. Cumberland also upped their defence and in the closing minutes took the lead to finish out the game 39 v 38. This was a game that everyone thought Team Jets would win given that they lead for the majority of the game but hopefully the positives will be taken into the next game. |
