TEAM JETS VS HUCCLECOTE
Q1- 13 - 6 Q2- 21 – 22 Q3-26 – 38 Q4-41 – 48 Amazing start – the Jets came quickly out the blocks and were fully committed to every ball and shooters were on song from the first whistle. The defensive unit caused Hucclecote into errors which Jets capitalised on giving us a 13 – 6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Becca Forrest leading from the back GK was in fine form hunting the ball and with her defensive partner Kat Le Riche GD and Jodie Blampied WD they formed an impressive unit. The second and third quarters saw Hucclecote turning the tables on Jets, forcing us away from the ball and Jets ended up playing as individuals and not working on the unit principles which had served them so well in the first quarter. Jets struggled to recognise and adapt to the situation and with Hucclecote scoring a run of 10 unanswered goals the end of the third quarter was a welcome relief to push the reset button. To their credit, Jets were not finished and were determined to play with pride. Jacy Brown moved to C and Aimee Bourke to WA. This opened up the attack and allowed Rosie Tonner GA to take the front cut on Hucclecote defence and Emily Green GS was holding strong. Nicole Goddard moved to her familiar position WD and continued to force pressure on the Hucclecote attack. Hucclecote made changes to steady the ship but unfortunately for Jets, the gap was too large to overcome, but the positive Jets won the last quarter 15 – 10. The game gave us lots of food for thought, lots to work on, but all in all the weekend was a positive one. Our fitness levels were good. Becca Forrest was awarded POM for both games – two new caps. We will regroup, analyse individual performances and pull together for next weekend’s games against Premier Romans and Poole. POM: Becca Forrest Sponsors: Santander International Mourant

Everyone was ready for the first game of the season and energy was high. Through court play was precise but our goals were allusive. Pinehurst were quick to capitalise on our errors and put us in the back foot. Aimee worked hard for her first cap keeping her WA off circle edge. The new defense unit took time to settle as long balls were fed to the dominant shooter.
Second quarter - changes were made in the defensive unit - Kat Le Riche GD and Jodie Blampied WD - this proved a telling point and the unit turned over the ball which was converted by our shooters who had settled now in their stride. Third quarter - Jets were in control and applied pressure all over the court. Turnovers were constant and jets began to extend their lead. Becca Forrest who was named POM was influential taking dramatic interceptions against WA/C ably backed up by Kat Le Riche. Jacy set the standard in the attack, Nicole stepping up to take the C bib showed her versatility and the speed of ball on the circle edge between the pair was exquisite. Rosie was outwitting her GD by splitting the circle taking front space and both Emily and Rosie were confident in putting up their shots. Final quarter Maddy F W came in as WA, Jace moved to C and Nicole to WD. Unfortunately Maddy went over on her ankle in the early-on in the quarter and young Taylor-Mai Dickson took to the court in her first senior Jets appearance. The game went goal for goal. Jets kept control and won the first game of their campaign by 10 goals. A great start so the season! Lots to review and work on. Recovery time and then reset for early start against Hucclecote this morning. POM: Becca Forrest Q1- 14-17 Q2 -29-26 Q3- 48-39 Q4- 66-56 New caps: Aimee Bourke Jet no. 52 Taylor-Mai Dickson Jet no. 53 |
