![]() It looked like Team Jets were going to have a comfortable win at half time today at their first home game and indeed first game of the season. With a strong start the home side took control, capitalising on errors from the visiting team who lacked flow and polish in their passing and movement. Despite being up by 10 goals at half time it was the visitors who took the upper hand winning the third quarter 10 goals to 8, leabing the score overall at 30 v 22. Team Jets maintained their lead during the opening of the 4th quarter, however the crowd were left anxiously on the edge of their seats as TFC fought back and with minutes to go there was only one goal in it. With the scores all level and around 60 seconds left on the clock Team Jets managed to ensure the ball travelled to their end but it was after the hooter blew that GS Emily Green with nerves of steel managed to win the game with a pentaly pass or shot! This opening match certainly showed the mental and pysical strength Jets have, something which we hope they can build on during the season. Jets head coach Linda Andrews offered her explanations for the dramatic season opener: 'We were in a little bit of cruise control early on, we understood what we wanted. But it was hard for the girls like Josie [Le Masurier], Jenna [Meredith], Lauren [Devine] and Jacy [Brown]; they haven’t actually played netball since March. ‘It’s so difficult then to find a different level to fight back – even though we were in the lead I felt as though we were still trying to chase the game. But it’s never over until that final whistle blows.' Team Jets 12, 22, 30, 34 - POM Tallula Norman (GA)
