U16 Team Jets suffered two defeats in their opening two matches in Regional Southwest Division 1.
In their first game against Exeter, Jets displayed excellent teamwork and defensive pressure to enter the second quarter only 2 goals down. After a nervous start, an experienced Exeter side continued to push their lead and despite many interceptions through court Jets found it hard to convert the numerous turn overs to goal. During the third quarter, Jets worked relentlessly to try and win back possession and managed to regain control of the ball to perform some fantastic pieces of play. Jets were able to force errors in the Exeter side and win back possession on plenty of occasions. Despite Jets’ determination and positivity they lost to Exeter 49-34. Jets bounced back after their defeat and contested for every ball against a feisty West Exe side. The Jets were on target with their shooting and collaboratively fought against tall players to end half time 24-16 down. As fatigue began to settle in, Jets continued to play at a fast pace whilst West Exe pounced on the Jets unfortunate mistakes. Despite great effort from the Jets, West Exe emerged victorious, 49-23.
