Jets came out the blocks in total control and dominated all over the court taking full advantage of turnover balls, playing slick fast netball. Jacy and Toni exploited the Galmington defence passing pin point feeds to their shooters.
Second quarter continued in the same vein. Jets making most of opportunities created by the explosive defence unit of Becca, Molly and Nicole. 3rd quarter Maddy took to court as WA. Jacy went to C. Josie replaced Becca. It took a while to adjust to the changes but the girls worked through the plays with Maddy gaining in confidence and fully committing to the set plays. Everyone pushed through to replicate the last two quarters. Shooting combination of Leah and Rosie were outstanding; mixing up rotations to outwit the opposition. 4th quarter Kat Le Riche earned her 1st cap, being Jet #50! Toni returned to the court and Jacy moved back to WA. Lottie took to the court as GS. Jets were in no mood to lower their standards and pushed through to finish the game winning the last quarter 19-5. Great team effort today, the highest Jets score to date!! Opponents Player of the Match: Molly Carre (GD)! Q1: 18-9 Q2: 38 -18 Q3: 53 - 32 Q4: 72 - 37 #Respect #Team #Pride

Jets second match of their first weekend away was a story of tired legs and a slippery court! These things combined to make for a slow start for Jets as they faced old rivals Huccelcote, however we managed to pull away at the end of the first quarter after a bit of consolidation and settling.
Mid second quarter saw Lisa (C) going down with a knee injury rendering her unable to play for the rest of the match. Toni Chaytor replaced her at C and Kirsty Ludlam replaced Hope at WA. Jets continued to maintain the lead, relentless man on defence caused problems for Hucclecote and with our defensive end taking turnover after turnover providing the attack with plenty of opportunities to convert to goal. At the start of the last quarter Maddie Reynolds replaced Lottie as GS, Hope replaced Kirsty at WA, to provide a fresh take at the attacking end, with Toni (C) later being replaced by Kirsty mid way through the last quarter. Jets thrived throughout the last quarter changes with constant fresh legs on the court, winning the quarter 13 - 4. Full credit to the girls remaining on the court throughout, being able to adapt to the changes. After multiple player changes throughout the match and an injury to one of the more experienced players (and Jets already missing some key players this weekend), the Jets squad this weekend truly stepped up to the challenges and should be proud of their performances. Opponents chosen player of the match: Molly Carre (GD) there are no words to describe the incredible defensive pressure by Molly during this match (and anytime she takes to the court!) Almost every time her player was passed the ball Molly was able to at least get a finger tip touch to the ball or take the clean interception! Well done Molly, you explosive fire bolt! Q1: 13 - 5 Q2: 20 - 12 Q3: 32 - 21 Q4: 45 - 25 The first match of 2022 is against Almondsbury. Jets started strong, up 3 - 0 in the first minute, Almondsbury came back fighting to bring it back level. Jets started to settle and pulled away extending their lead every quarter. Half time saw a complete switch up of the attacking end of the court, Maddie Reynolds replacing Lottie Howe as GS, Kirsty Ludlum replacing Hope Herridge as WA and Toni Chaytor replacing Lisa Luce as C. Lisa moved to GK replacing Josie Le Masurier to mix it up against the Almondsbury GS with formidable shooting skills.
With fresh legs on the court in the second half, Jets continued to pull out the lead and adapted quickly to the new combinations. Almondsbury continued to fight throughout the match, with the score not reflecting the intensity on court. It was a steep learning curve for the new players who enjoyed the game, rose to the occasion and grew in confidence throughout the time they had on court. The senior players were strong in all areas, gaining many interceptions and forcing 3 seconds turnovers and Jets came away with a much deserved win! Opponents chosen player of the match: Rosie Tonner (GA) so well deserved! Rosie took full control of the shooting circle, supporting junior shooters Lottie and Maddie and flexing her phenomenal shooting skills - she even got 3 interceptions during the match! Q1: 16 - 11 Q2: 28 - 17 Q3: 39 - 25 Q4: 54 - 32 Note: Almondsbury play in red netball dresses therefore Jets chose to play in old navy dresses to ensure there was a difference between the team kits The match against Team Bath today was a game of two halves!
For the first two quarters a fatigued jets were struggling to keep up with Team Bath’s pace and were hesitant on all areas of the court. Some swift half time changes which seen the introduction of impact player Maddy Fitzgerlad-Wilkins and Jacy Brown returning to centre bib freshened up the attacking end whilst Lisa Luce (POM) and Josie Le Masurier gelled effectively becoming a dominant force defensively. The shooters shot an impressive 40 goals in the second half which was a fantastic achievement! A great fight back by everyone involved and a great way to end our campaign before the Christmas break! Q1: 12 - 14 Q2: 25 - 29 Q3: 46 - 39 Q4: 64 - 48 Half time switches: Maddy to WA, Jacy to C Opponents chosen Player of the match: Lisa Luce (GD): Some hard fought determination and persistence seen Lisa take an abundance of turnover ball in the second half, especially impressive as Lisa had returned to circle defence only this weekend. How’s that for versatility?! It’s been a hot minute since our Seniors have had a Jets match due to our last competitive weekend being cancelled (due to the high winds!)
Galmington came out hard and it was looking very close during the first quarter. Jets settled into the match and started to pull away. Galmington however did not let Jets increase the gap throughout the next three quarters, and fought hard to reach within 5 goals In Q3, but Jets stepped things up to pull away again. Even though we were under pressure we kept control and lifted ourselves to turn ball. After an extended period without high level match play, Jets did well to keep calm heads and in the final quarter finally extended the lead- we reached our goal of maintaining consistency throughout the match Q1: 16 - 7 Q2: 29 - 19 Q3: 44 - 34 Q4: 54 - 41 Opponents chosen Player of the match: Nicole Goddard (WD) Our unsung hero always doing her job shutting down the WA, Nicole was on form restricting attacking play Jets have a quick recovery turnaround before Team Bath A tomorrow lunchtime - time to refuel with some good food before a recovery Epsom salts bath this evening ! #Respect #Team #Pride Sponsors: Santander International Mourant The U14’s faced ENZ Pink this morning in a great match. The score did not reflect the competitive nature of the game with U14 Jets taking a spectacular win 71-16.
A great team performance from this young side with all 10 players taking to the court. Opposition player of the match was awarded to Grace Thomson. Grace put on a superb shooting display and put shots up from a range of positions in the circle. U16 Team Jets faced two tough matches this weekend. Returning with a strong win and bonus points for a close result.
JETS vs HUCCLECOTE Result 36 - 38 Both teams got off to a slow start with the ball going from one end of the court to the other with neither team being able to convert to goal. Jets were making hard work of the game and Hucclecote started to build in confidence. Despite a number of changes within the team, Jets didn’t settle in to their normal rhythm and Hucclecote gained momentum and managed to pull ahead to end up winning 38-36 Player of the match: Thalia Fletcher …………………………………………………………………………. TEAM JETS vs TEAM BATH Result 53 - 29 After a change of venue the girls had a short rest before their second game of the day. They knew they had to refocus after the previous game. Again they took time to settle however played much better as a team. There were some great centre court interceptions however Jets still weren't making the most of these opportunities. Changes were made going into the third quarter which opened up the court and enabled Jets to find their rhythm, playing some beautiful netball and ending up winning 53-29 Player of the match: Taylor-Mai Dickson Well done to the U16’s who won both their matches this weekend.
First up was a tough game against the Challengers Flares. The first half was especially close as the Flares defenders managed to intercept the ball from getting to the shooters. This didn’t stop the Team Jets U16’s though, because as the game played out they managed to keep their calm and get the points, eventually winning 51 v 39! Centre and Co-Captain Taylor-Mai was awarded player of the match. Taylor-Mai consistently worked the ball through court and delivered brilliant feeds into the circle. She kept up the intensity of play for the full 60 minutes and effortlessly turned over ball Next up it was a game against Bath Cougars. And what a game it was against these old rivals! It was a nail biting game and at half-time Jets were down. They managed to up the intensity during the second half. The squad worked tirelessly through court, capitalising on any errors from Bath and converting some incredible interceptions to goal. The score-line went back and forth with Jets gaining towards the end of the last quarter. The game finished 46-41 to Team Jets Opposition player of the match was awarded to super shooter Sophie Barraclough who managed to keep her composure against a very strong defence and was clinical with her shooting (only missing one shot in the entire game). Sophies calm head led her side to a well fought win. Thank you to our sponsors Santander International. U14 Team Jets took a convincing win against Calne. The versatile squad kept their composure throughout the competitive game and came away with a 41-26 win.
Calne were great competitors throughout and constantly challenged our Jets squad. Opposition player of the match was awarded to Goal Defence and Co-captain Annabelle Williams put on an impressive defensive display in the circle. Annabelle consistently shut down play and challenged for every ball. She worked tirelessly to keep her shooter out of the circle and transitioned the ball through court to her attack. Thank you to our sponsors Santander International. Team Jets are back!
It’s been a difficult 16 months for everyone. Netball has been no exception, we have taken every opportunity to get back to training… outside, in the gym, back on the courts with distancing, sanitising, adjusted netball rules and finally we’re all getting back to normality based on government guidance. The Netball Southwest Regional League 1 2021-2022 season is due to commence in September 2021 and we are raring to go! We’ve been strength and conditioning training at Strive Academy (pictured) and training on the courts at Les Ormes - thank you to everyone involved in getting us back to fitness! We’re looking forward to the new season ahead and sharing our journey with you! #Respect #Team #Pride |
