With the amazing sponsorship of the Ana Leaf Foundation, Jersey Netball Development were able to offer the opportunity of playing in a Netball South West U12 Tournament over in the UK. The event run much like a seeding tournament, has given 11 players on the pathway to play for Team Jets so incredibly valuable exposure.
1st up for the day were Team Bath. Jets converted on the first centre but so do Bath but with some forced errors and fantastic shooting from GS Emily Le Gros and GA Hannah Gladwell with a 100% shooting record from both, Jets quickly established a strong lead and denied Bath any opportunity to score again in the 1st half. With an 8 v 1 lead Jets were able to make 3 changes to freshen legs. Timing of attacking move which hadn’t been slick was improved 2nd half but Bath utilised their tall GA to maintain better possession to start opening up more shooting opportunities. Jets however kept up the pressure with C Layla Dos Santos adding to her interception tally and ensuring Jets won 15 v 4 2nd game v TTNC Griffin Pink a bit of a wobbly game with Jets allowing their opposition too much space. However with TTNC struggling to finish their shooting opportunities Jets were able to take a lead as their shots found the net bar one. Half time saw a change of players and with Hannah Gladwell continuing to show steady movement from her half time arrival, Jets created chances to score and won 7 v 3. A good learning curve for the young side to keep going and it was really the shooting accuracy that allowed Jets the win. 3rd game v Exeter fantastic shooting again really gave Jets the edge in this game. With lots of tips and interceptions, Jets also learnt from the previous game and were a defensively tighter on their players. WD Kiara Gordinho worked tirelessly to track her player and created many chances for her team to extend their lead as C Ciara Bavington did exceptionally well to dictate the speed of the game and fed the circle with great timing and ball placement. This all combined to allow Jets to win 12 v 2. The score not reflecting the missed opportunities for Exeter. 4th game v Titans Meteors GS Olivia Kerley showed again fantastic accuracy as she had a 100% shooting record for the whole game. Brilliant defence from GK Millie Gunasekara denied Titans shooting opportunity and only allowed them to score 1 goal in 1st half of the game. With improved defence across the court there were a greater number of tips recorded for this game from everyone, however Jets had 3 unforced errors in the second half allowing Titans to score showing a need to maintain focus. Jets however won 12 v 4. 5th game v Galmington after a bit of a break Jets were a bit wobbly and again had errors creeping in. Co-Captain Hope Jordan however clocked up a number of Interceptions to rally her team. Again Jets shooting in the 1st half means the game looks more one sided than it was with the young side taking an early lead. GA Erin Duffy showed excellent split landings as she created opportunities for Jets to score. GK Tali Bavington piled on the pressure in the opposite shooting circle and the outcome of the game was an 11 v 1 win though in the 2nd half Jets started to miss a few shooting chances. 6th game v Penzance with renewed focus Jets showed better flow in their final group game and capitalised on the oppositions errors only allowing then a few shooting opportunities which they were unable to finish. With an 8 goal lead at half time, changes were again made as GK Daisy Dunn piled on the pressure to allow her team to win 19 v 2. Semi-finals v Huccelcote. Jets started strongly but the pressure of a larger audience meant shooting chances were missed Hannah Gladwell however showed strong nerves as she scored all her shots. Multiple tips from WD Kiara Gordinho and GD Daisy Dunn however kept Jets’ nose in front. With a 7 v 3 lead at half time coaches Perkins and Mills warned their side that Hucclecote would come and strongly and the prediction was right. Huccelcote indeed hit the ground running and Jets found themselves only 1 goal ahead. With tips not making their way to Jets hands it was a nail biting last 7 minutes but the team linked enough to gain a 2 goal lead before edging out a 10 v 7 win. Finals – The big win against Hucclecote in a tight game left Jets perhaps a little more tired than their Final game opposition TTNC Griffin Blue who had an easier semi-final game. Jets started well however and took an early lead before a couple of held balls allowed TTNC to draw level at the half time break. With requests for tighter defence and more accurate passing, Jets went back out to try and win the game but with loose balls and too many obstruction calls, TTNC showed great strength and determination to take a strong lead. Their GD shut down many feeds into the Jets circle and helped her team to a 7 v 12 win. Coach Taryn Perkins: “Great team spirit showed throughout the day and we were particularly impressed with the shooting accuracy that we managed to reach today. Having 3 shooters reach 100% stats for at least a quarter was incredibly impressive. The young side has learnt a great deal today and we are incredibly proud of every single one of them. 2nd in a regional tournament is a fantastic result and the experiences they have had today will be invaluable as they move up to Under 14 level next season. We are incredibly grateful to the Ana Leaf Foundation for this opportunity.” Squad: Co-Captains Hope Jordan and Talia Bavington Ciara Bavington Daisy Dunn Emily Le Gros Erin Duffy Hannah Gladwell Kiara Gordinho Layla Dos Santos Millie Gunasekara Olivia Kerley Umpire Michelle Bougeard

Team Jets Netball Club are looking for sponsors.
Team Jets Netball Club are a highly regarded not for profit netball club in Jersey. The club has junior and senior teams who represent Jersey in the England Netball Premier League and the NSW Junior Leagues. The Premier League is the highest level of competition open to UK Clubs. The 2018 season concluded with the junior teams being runner-up in their NSW Junior Leagues and the seniors maintaining form in Netball Premier League 3. We are also delighted that several players have been selected into the EN performance pathway. The Club promotes excellence and has received Clubmark status for its governance practices and provides players and coaches with continued development opportunities and specialist training clinics. As you will appreciate, the costs of maintaining a successful Club such as ours are ongoing. Game travel, hiring of facilities and professional services for training and matches are particularly expensive and this is why sponsorship is integral to our Club and the success of our athletes. To continue to be a powerful organisation in Jersey Netball, our club relies on sponsorship as well as other ad-hoc donations, fundraisers, subscriptions and home game admissions. The club can offer various benefits to recognise valued support for sponsors (banners at matches, website inclusion, tickets and presentation or trophies). A sponsorship proposal has been drafted outlining in more detail and the Team jets committee are keen to discuss packages with any potential sponsors for 2019. Please contact President Linda Andrews for more: 07797757048 or [email protected] U14 Team Jets faced the other 2 undefeated sides in the league today with top of the table Challengers first. After a very focused preparation and warm up the girls took an early 2 v 1 lead with the attack finding good space. With a 100% shooting record in the first quarter of both games, GS Pia Gurner allowed her team to push ahead to a 7 v 1 lead. With some loose balls Challengers scored the next 3 goals forcing Jets to gain control as they went on to win the quarter 12 v 7. Maddy Cameron put in a fantastic performance in the WD bib with numerous interceptions particularly in the 2nd quarter. Jets didn’t always capitalise however with some forced feeds into the circle but maintained their lead going in at half time 20 v 15 up. Despite changes in the on court team, GA and POM Maddie Reynolds continued to link well with her attack, especially GS Eva-Raine Clark provided options and goals to help Jets continue their lead. With fresh legs in at C, Taylor Mai Dickson used fantastic movement and communication to ensure more of the defences’ fantastic interceptions were converted. With 15 minutes to go Jets were 29 v 21 up and despite this not being a perfect game by any means the young side showed how far they have come since their initial seeding tournament. With excellent use of channels and changes of direction, WA Maddie Gott encouraged her team to keep fighting for possession. Jets came out top at the final whistle winning 36 v 27. Their second match was against Lawn and proved to be a battle. After at times losing possession with silly errors and forced passes in the first match, Coaches Taryn Perkins and Lauren Mills were keen to see greater control and focus in this second game. A positive debrief and 2nd focused warm up saw the girls come out strongly initially however with a large home crowd the shooting opportunities were not always finding the net and many rebounds were scooped up by the Lawn defence. Jets consequently found themselves 4 goals down before they scored their first. Maddie Reynolds worked incredibly hard throughout the match to gain her second POM of the day. With Reynolds and GS Pia Gurner linking brilliantly they managed to bring the game level and then take 5 v 4 lead with 5 goals on the trot. However Lawn then fought back to take the opening quarter 7 v 10. Katie Henman came in at GK for the 2nd quarter to try and close down the space for the opposition’s shooters. She made a great impact with multiple interceptions allowing Jets keep up the pressure and bringing it back to a 1 goal game before again the sides were level (12 v 12). At this point it was a long wait for a goal as both sides created turnover opportunities but failed to capitalise. It was Lawn who broke the deadlock and from then on it was goal for goal with them scoring the last of the quarter ensuring they had a 2 goal lead at half time. The strong defensive pairing of Helen Blackstone at GK and Cerys O’Connell at GD were reunited once again as Henman moved to WD and the game continued to be close with multiple turnovers which at times neither team could convert. With Jets loosing possession both through forced and unforced errors, it was Lawn who took a 20 v 24 lead mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Then Jets also suffered the loss of their WA Maddie Gott who was forced to come off injured. With Chole Lagadu on in her place though, Jets quickly picked up the pace again but were still 3 goals down as they paused before the final quarter. Again (coaches) Perkins and Mills pressed their team for greater control to prevent the errors which were losing them possession. The first 2 goals went to Lawn, but with the error rate dramatically reduced Jets pressed on but the loud crowd seemed to effect some shooting attempts and with 4 minutes to go Jets were 5 goals down. But Jets were not to be rattled. As Blackstone, O’Connell and Cameron linked to force loose balls from Lawn and took fantastic interceptions they gave the team chances. Lagadu who took the C bib for final quarter linked her defence and attack brilliantly, pressing Lawn to 29 v 30 scoreline. With a shot missed for Jets to draw level, the crowd cheered as Lawn played on, but the ball was deftly intercepted by WA Taylor-Mai Dickson before Gurner converted. Lawn were taken by surprise as Jets then took a 31 v 30 lead but scored on their own centre to bring it to 31 each. It was then Lawn who missed a shot and Blackstone caught the rebound but Jets again lost possession before Blackstone inspired her team to push for the win taking a fantastic interception on the edge of the shooting circle and the team then confidently delivered the ball to GA Reynolds to score. As Lawn began to panic. A held ball error from Lawn gave Jets the opportunity to finish the game which they did winning 33 v 31. An absolutely incredible and inspiring squad performance which left the coaches and subs running on to court to celebrate with the on court team. After the match Coach Taryn Perkins said “For the girls to show such spirit and determination in our second match was incredible. It has been a long and tough day with every player having to find that extra bit of energy to keep going. To keep their heads throughout such a close game in front of the opposition’s home crowd was incredible. The sheer grit they showed in the final minutes has really shown how far they have come since the start of the season. Although we still have lots to focus on, myself and Lauren and I know Ella who could not travel, could not be prouder of each and every one of them.” Under 14 Team Jets travelled away to play North Dorset Lightning and Plymouth Pilgrams in their first games of Division 2 Regional League.
In their first game against North Dorset Lightning, Jets came up against a very physical side. This resulted in a shaky start and Jets lead by one goal in the first quarter. The 2nd quarter began, and Jets kept a cool head and began to settle into the game. C and POM Chloe Lagadu set the pace of the match and helped bring Jets into the game with continuous pressure in the centre court. GA Maddie Reynolds worked tirelessly to bring the ball down the court, her drives and positioning in the shooting circle made it difficult for North Dorset defence to deny Jets the goals. Jets finished the 1st half of the game with a 23-11 lead. Some changes were made at half-time to counteract the tall and physical team. Jets hit the ground running. GK Katie Henman continually hassled her player, keeping her away from the post and gaining some fantastic tips. GS Eva-Raine Clark held her space in the circle with North Dorset defence struggling to get around her, her consistent shots helped Jets to pull away and finish the 3rd quarter with a 35-17 lead. With a few more changes to the versatile squad, Jets took to the courts. GS Lottie was quick on her feet, gaining continuous rebounds and converting them to goals. Jets ended the game with a convincing 48-21 win. The following day after a team debrief and a good analysis of the game, the team were feeling positive and determined. Plymouth Pilgrams started strongly taking an early lead. Jets bounced back and contested for every ball resulting in a 6-6 draw after the first quarter. Jets started the second quarter strongly, GD and co-captain Cerys O’Connell and WD Maddy Cameron worked effectively as a defensive unit in the centre, moving the ball down the court and delivering accurate and well-placed feeds into the attacking third. Maddy Cameron was superb on the transerve line, acting as a back-up option. Cerys gained countless interceptions and Jets finished the 2nd quarter with a strong 18-9 lead. The 3rd quarter saw a fantastic performance from GK Helen Blackstone, her versatility in defence and countless tips ensured that Jets regained possession. WA Maddie Gott positioned herself tactically on the circle edge and consistently fed great balls into the shooters. GS Pia Gurner’s fantastic movement both in and out of the circle combined with her consistent shooting helped Jets pull away and finish the 3rd quarter with a staggering 41-12 lead. Pia’s dominance in the shooting circle earned her Player of the Match. The final quarter began and despite being against a tall team, WA Taylor-Mai used her quick pace and good decision making to ensure the balls reached the shooting circle. Despite fatigue setting in, Jets continued to capitalise on missed opportunities and took a fantastic win with the final score 49-20. U16 Team Jets suffered two defeats in their opening two matches in Regional Southwest Division 1.
In their first game against Exeter, Jets displayed excellent teamwork and defensive pressure to enter the second quarter only 2 goals down. After a nervous start, an experienced Exeter side continued to push their lead and despite many interceptions through court Jets found it hard to convert the numerous turn overs to goal. During the third quarter, Jets worked relentlessly to try and win back possession and managed to regain control of the ball to perform some fantastic pieces of play. Jets were able to force errors in the Exeter side and win back possession on plenty of occasions. Despite Jets’ determination and positivity they lost to Exeter 49-34. Jets bounced back after their defeat and contested for every ball against a feisty West Exe side. The Jets were on target with their shooting and collaboratively fought against tall players to end half time 24-16 down. As fatigue began to settle in, Jets continued to play at a fast pace whilst West Exe pounced on the Jets unfortunate mistakes. Despite great effort from the Jets, West Exe emerged victorious, 49-23. Under 14 Team Jets travelled away to seeding this weekend to play 4 other teams in Group B with the aim of finishing 1st or 2nd in the group to secure a place in Division One of the U14 Regional League for the rest of the season.
The team took to the court to play their first game against a physical Wimbourne. A little nervous the girls had to work hard to score their first goal as Wimbourne, who had first centre, started strongly. GK Katie Henman became more confident as the game went on as the defence worked to push out their tall shooters. Despite some great tips they struggled to get the ball effectively up to the attack with nerves leaving them hesitant with their passing. 2nd half changes brought on WD Erin McAllister who marked tightly denying her player opportunities to feed. Taylor-Mai Dickson also came in at WA and made a huge impact in the Jets attack creating greater number of options and fantastic feeds. This allowed GS Eva-Raine Clark, who also came on for the 2nd half, great chances to shoot with her achieving a 100% shooting record which helped Jets to achieve a half score, though they lost 19 v 10 overall. After a re-group and a good analysis of the game the team were feeling positive and took to the court again to play Saints Rockets. However it was a slow start once again as top age group Saints took a strong lead and pushed ahead leading 11 v 4 at half time. Jets however never gave up and after struggling to feed the circle suddenly found options with WA Maddie Gott working hard to feed her shooters. Centre Chloe Lagadu helped bring Jets into the game with numerous interceptions and pressuring in the centre court. With great shooting stats Jets won the 2nd half 6 v 4 forcing errors from Saints including stopping centre passes being received. Overall Saints won 15 v 10 with Jets again gaining a point for a half score. With some changes within the versatile squad to counteract another tall team, Jets hit the ground running taking an early lead against Lovell Titan Warriors, with GD Cerys O’Connell and GK Helen Blackstone disrupting the flow of play with countless tips and interceptions. The shooters only missed 2 goals but Jets could have taken a stronger lead had they taken all their chances with decision making a big part of the team talk at half time as they were 7 v 9 down. With an unchanged side returning to court, Jets were determined to get the win they deserved, however Saints utilised their very tall GS to great effect and won 17 v 11. Titans were the opposition for the 4th game and their tall GD and GK made feeding the shooters very hard. The players however displayed an amazing level of team spirit and determination. Tracking her player tightly WD Maddy Cameron pressured her player to force errors and also worked hard to transition the ball from defence to attack with great effect. GS Maddie Reynolds, who had a good consistent shooting record all day, again worked hard to get free with GA Eva-Raine Clark pushing out her defender to create space for her shooting partner. With one goal in it at half time Jets were on a high. Centre Taylor-Mai controlled the speed of the game effectively and with great movement off the ball WA Maddie Gott was able to get the ball to circle edge and accurately feed her shooters to allow Jets to draw level. It was Titans though who scored the final goal of the game to win 12 v 11. An elated Jets had shown such fantastic development during the day and such fight in the last game that it almost felt like a win for the youngest side in the competition. After the final game coach Taryn Perkins reflected on a great day of development “I am so proud of the players today who have shown great maturity and team spirit, supporting each other through some tough physical games. Our scorelines today didn’t reflect the competitiveness of the matches on court so myself and Ella are really proud that they pushed teams in every game and secured bonus points for half scores which wasn’t the case for all the teams, even some who have gained a place in Division One. After the games today and positive feedback from other coaches we are really excited to continue working with the girls for the season ahead.” Squad Travelling: Cerys O’Connell (co-captain) Chloe Lagadu Erin McAllister Eva-Raine Clark Helen Blackstone Katie Henman Maddy Cameron Maddie Gott Maddie Reynolds (co-captain) Taylor-Mai Dickson Coaches: Taryn Perkins and Ella Vieira Umpire: Emma Wilton Scorer: Megan Hamilton Team Jets are proudly sponsored by Dominion, One Foundation and Polar Capital. Congratulations to Team Jets who have secured another season in the Mizuno Premier League 3 for the 2018/2019 Season.
Jets headed to playoffs this weekend determined to show that their hardwork would pay off and it has. On day one they were to play Poly NC and Eagles to determine which two opponents they would face in their must win group on day two. Althought the day one matches didn't mean anything in terms of the overall outcome, Jets were determined to start positively and top their group in order to face lower ranked teams. They started out with a fantastic win over Polyc NC with the final score 44 v 38. However Regional League Winners for the South, Eagles were a tougher opponent and Jets lost 54 v 29, which meant the girls were placed into 2nd of their pool and today faced Thoroughbreds and Hi-Tech Team Jets faced old rivals Thoroughbreds first and pulled out a fantastic win (51 v 39) to edge closer to their goal. Next up were Hi-Tech and Jets didn't let the pressure get to them as they won 46 v 38 to confirm their place for next season. The Under 14 Regional League for the South West came down to the last weekend, with Team Jets waiting on the result of nearest rivals Team Bath. Unfortunately with Team Bath winning their last game Team Jets were pushed to take the Runner's Up position which is still a fantastic result as the young squad develops for future netball.
Under 16 Team Jets travelled away this weekend to play Raychem and Bath Cougars who along with last trips opposition Cirencester make up the top 4 with any of the teams able to take the League Title. Undefeated Jets faced undefeated Raychem first and it was the latter who settled first with Jets trailing in the first quarter despite Captain Sophie Harvey leading her team with impressive shooting stats (8 from 10). Kiah Kuppe at WD pushed in defence for turnovers and linked brilliantly with her attacking counterparts. With Raychem missing chances due to great defensive pressure in the circle from GK Natasha Searson and GD & POM Isabella Valeur-Adu, Jets showed they had more to give and turned over a first quarter deficiet if 6 goals to lead 28 v 23 at half time. GA Lily Jones didn’t miss a shot in this second quarter. However despite showing fantastic through court play with Maddie Somay and Gabby Scott sharing Centre during the game and linking well with WA Maddie Fitzgerald, Jets struggled to keep a strong Raychem from creeping back. The game was incredibly close until the final few minutes with Jets forcing it to a 4 goal game after Raychem took the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Unfortunately tiredness from Jets and a strong push from Raychem meant they ran away with it to finish 48 v 60 ahead.
Jets regrouped and reflected on the positives of the game before facing 3rd placed Bath Cougars, but failed to settle allowing Bath to mount up a strong lead. With changes to the team for the second quarter, Lauren Bisson came in at GS and Sophie Harvey moved to WA. This created more balance and Jets started to be more consistent and they started to close the deficit. GK Natasha Searson showed fantastic man on defending against a towering shooter and earns the POM honors for her efforts. However her team had too much to do and with Bath Cougars displaying brilliant through court defence forced Jets to make errors and they were unable to come back despite rallying in the final quarter. Overall score 34 v 58. Until this weekend Jets had been undefeated and knew this last weekend would be tough with over half the squad unavailable to travel. The 3 Under 14 players who travelled were fantastic and fitted into the team well. The development and team spirit that the squad has shown as the season has gone on shows how much they have progressed. With most of the team staying in the squad for the 2018/2019 season this development has been crucial for the long term goals of the club. Reflecting on the season Coach Taryn Perkins said “we are so pleased with how the players have progressed this season. They have shown great determination and have supported each other on the journey. It has been a shame to end with 2 loses but we have far more positives to take from this season. With most of the squad continuing their Under 16 campaign next season and some fantastic players coming up from Under 14s, 3 of which have played today, they will be force to be reckoned with.” ![]() Under 14 Team Jets finished the season with 2 fantastic wins against Yeovil and St Agnes. Jets showed their development and determination to win their first game 45 v 5 against Yeovil. Centre Maddie Somay showing great dominance taking yet another Player of the Match Award. Next up was and a strong defensive performance saw another emphatic win against St Agnes 39 v 5. GD Bella Valeur-Adu took the Player of the Match honors and like Somay this is one of many during a great season for the young side. Squad:
